I was poking around Lee valley today and look what I found. It looks like just the ticket for intarsia or segmentation work. Flex Shaft & Dust Extractor - Lee Valley Tools Kinda kewl huh?

Nice tool. It would be nice if they sold a motor to go with it.

I use a Foredom flex drive tool and the cable drive is a bit of a pain. I find it gets in the way of what I am doing and endup moving the wood a lot. I would think having that vacum hose hooked up to it would make it even harder to move around. I also use a 6X4" funnel with a fine mesh on the opening. It is hooked up to a 4" hose that goes to a cyclone dust system. It can be a foot or more away from the work piece and still capture all but the largest pieces of removed wood and dust.

Alan, thanks for the feedback, it's guys/gals like you who keep us from buying tools we don't really need. Those who have these items keep the rest of us from going broke, so we can buy something we can't live without another day...
