Default Sanding with flexible shaft on drill press

I got a flexible sanding shaft at a garage sale this weekend that I thought I could use some drums in for edges, intarsia, etc. I have a delta benchtop drill press that runs at 5 speeds: 620,1100,1720,2340 and 3100. What is the best speed to set the belt at for sanding with a shaft like this?
Thanks
Bill

Bill I sure don't wont to lead you wrong hear. but bits like to do better at 1700 to 3000 rpms. you can burn them up if you go to slow. but just keep safe. and if you use the flex shaft close to your body. be careful it can catch on your cloths, and brake the shaft. also, check your conection often. and try not to bend it much. also, it will get pretty hot. so use care changing your bits, and sanding drums. this is a wonderfull tool. but can jump on you also. and can take out lots of wood fast. practice is a good thing.the sanding drums are great. I love to use them on the tabs, I love mine. but just be careful. your friend Evie
Ps. most bits and burs, come with a sugjestion on what rpms to go with. sanding drums can go slower.just play.

Judy gayle Roberts used to recommend about 1725 - which is what I use mine at.
