Has DeWalt EVER come up with a fix for the DW788 blade problem on a Type 2? I bought this machine some four years ago and really like it except for when it comes time to change blades. Because of this problem I would NOT recommend to anyone to buy this machine. You will, like me tear your hair out just trying to install a blade. We hasehed this over in many, many posts back a couple of years ago on this forum and still no word if Dewalt has "come clean" and came up with a fix. |

Dutch, you didn't mention what the problem is. There are many Dewalt users on here that don't seem to have a problem changing blades.

I've never had a problem changing blades on my Dewalt. Like Mick asks, what is the problem you're having. Marsha

The only problem I'm aware of with the #2 was a not flat table. What is the problem with the blade changing? T |

I've been using a Type 2 for almost three years and the only problem I've had with blade changes is the need to remove the screw occasionally and sand the end to get it flat again. Maybe I tighten it too much, but the end of the screw seems to round off a bit after time and won't grip the blade very well.

I've timed it and it takes a little less than 15 seconds to change the blade on my DeWalt. That's one reason why I bought it - 12 years ago. I had a blade clamp break a few years back but it was easily replaced.....Carter

The problem dutch is refering to is most likely from the first batch of Type 2's. There is a wedge piece inside it that wasnt machined correctly making the holders farther apart than they were supposed to be.Dewalt has corrected that problem and has sent the correct size part to its repair centers. This dilemma was covered pretty good a couple years ago, sadly now your waranty has expired, so you may have to pay to get it fixed, but by all means get that taken care of so you can enjoy scrolling! Like Carter said, it should only take a few seconds to install your blade once you get the hang of it.
