Default Dewalt blade clamp issues

Well it happened: Lower blade clamp stripped out the threads today. Of course it happened on the day my BB ply came in for Project Rudolph. 100 miles and $40 later and I have two new blade chucks and clamp knobs.
?? I know it's been asked before but has anyone put helicoils in these? Also for you Excaliber owners have you had any issues with the blade holder/blade chuck and if you know is there any difference in material other than the tensioning lever. Thanks, Pat

I asked the same question several weeks ago. A machinist friend of mine confirmed that it would be possible. Unfortunately he didn't have any of the correct size, at the time, so I have yet to fix mine. It appears to be an easy fix and will give me an extra backup clamp.

I saw that Bill, backups and a permanent fix is what I'm looking for too. Tomorrow I'll start searching for the correct size helicoil. Putting them in shouldn't be much of a problem. Pat

I think there's some special tooling required to install helicoils. Our machine shop has all the necessary stuff, just not the right size helicoils. You can buy kits, but they can be a little pricey. I would expect that most garages that do much engine work should have them, maybe your local shade tree mechanic can fix you up.
