Default Any Hegner Polycut owners out there?

Hi all,

I just bought a used 1985 era Hegner Polycut 3 saw and I am trying to get it tuned up.

It seems the top thumb screw that holds the clamp in place was broken or lost. Someone tried to replace it with a standard thread screw and messed up the metric threads.

I have ordered some replacement parts, but I have a question on how the whole thing should go together.

When I mount the blade and tighten the bottom thumb screw it does not touch the blade clamp. It looks like about a 1/16" air gap between the blade clamp and the thumb screw. Should it touch?

I think I may have a similar issue on the top thumb screw, but I won't know for sure until I get some replacement parts in.

I know the clamp holder is a little different on the Polycut than it is on the other models.

I guess my basic questions is this: Is the blade assembly with both clamps attached supposed to float a bit loose in the holders (with no blade tension) and it's the blade tension knob that keeps the blade clamps seated in their respective triangular slots?

Thanks

Mark

You can buy all the parts from Hegner - I have looked at the UK site, but it does say that spec may be different elswhere, so you need to check out the one most convenient for you.

Congrats on the saw - hope you got it at a good price.
