11 years old vs. under warranty. I had the ability to pay for it and thought it worthwhile.

I knew you would have a good answer...I'd keep the older one for just in case moments...I saw in another post you were able to still get a new type 1 saw. that is amazing in itself. Congrats!

I'm looking at getting another one too - for the same reason. If mine kicked the bucket I'd be in big trouble. it's rattling and a rolling but still plugging away. I plan to keep my old one tho as a back up and to have to perhaps be able to give lessons on one day. I'm waiting to see what my boss at Woodcraft can do on the price. Saw Grizzly has them for $419 - great price.

I would have hung onto it if I had the room, I added a full size drill press, and went from a 10 inch to a 12 inch miter saw... so the extra room I had evaporated.

Hey, Jim, I kept my Delta to use just with flat blade cutting & do most of my cutting on my 788 with spirals. It's nice to have those flats already to use when I want to cut a long straight line. I think you'll be happy with your new saw, even if it is the same. Good scrolling. Perk

It sounds like you took pretty good care of the saw, and I dont recall you ever mentioning much in the way of problems, maybe that saw still has another 12 years of life left in it. Someone might get a steal of a deal there. Ebay is goofy though, sometimes they go really high, other times very cheap. I do know, you will most likely wish you kept it around, it is handy to have a couple of them, especially when cutting bevel cuts, just to have on that you keep set square, and do your fiddling around with the bevel cuts on the other.
