Default My 788 easy lift

Here's some pics of my home made easy lift system. All it is is a bungee cord hooked through the little hole by the on/off switch and hooked over a screw in the ceiling. It works pretty good I barely have to touch the arm to lift or lower it, alot easier to reinsert the blade.

Clever Idea I'll have to try that. Right now I use a 1x2 x4 1/2" and keep it by my saw. so far it works great. Edward

That looks a little dangerous King. What if the bungee cord slips off either end? You could get whacked pretty good. I think if you could secure it a little better to both ends it might be a little safer. The concept is good. Work on it. I sure would hate to see you tell us you poked an eye out with the metal hook on the end of the cord.

Hey Jim, I wasn't really cutting anything there, those were just some scraps I was messin around with. I haven't really cut anything with the 788 yet, I've had too many other things goin on, cleaning shop today so probably this week.

I have used the bungie cord to lift my 788 arm for a number of years now.Used to use the wood block also but it was a pain. I have it hooked over a hook screwed into rhe ceiling and onto a strap around the arm of the saw.The downside is if you break a blade it jerks the arm up and makes lots of noise until you can shut off the saw. Does it damage the saw at all ? I have broke a few blades a long the way and my saw is still working.

Hey Smitty, I have not broke a blade with mine yet, but I lowered the screw in the ceiling so that the tension is low on the bungee cord. If I loosen the tension on my blade and release the lower blade holder, the upper arm will not move until I lift it. But when I lift it it stays in the up position then I just push it down and am ready to go. I would say try making a loop out of an old coat hanger and hang that on your screw, then put the bungee hook into that and you can adjust the loop size to get the tension perfect.

King, that just might work out great for you as long as youve got it adjusted how you do. I do know that you can blow that little fuse on the saw pretty easily if the saw is running and the arm is in the up position, so keep that in mind.

Well while I was cleaning the shop I decided to take Rick's advice, I put some safety wire through the hole by the on/off switch and took a scrap of black walnut and screwed it over the bungee in the ceiling. This thing ain't going anywhere now.

Thanks Rick
