Default Hitachi SB10Y & SB10YI whats to difference??????

Happy Friday to all my fellow scrollers
I wonder if any one might know if there is a difference in the Hitachi SB10Y and the SB10YI. Hitachi web site only lists the 10Y but places like amazon and tool barn list the 10YI and I found them both list with I do a search. I've sent and email to Hitachi but have yet to get a reply the last time I ask a guestion of a tool company it took a week to fewt a reply. I know we have to really smart tool people on this family of ours who just may have the answer.

I don't know the answer either. (sigh) However, I do have 3 speculations.

One is that there's been a minor engineering change in the model. If so, when you get your email response, the difference should be explained.

Another is there's some accessory item included with one that isn't with the other. Dremel is the worlds worst for this. I've been looking at their newer model. Everywhere I go it's a different price with a different accessory package set up. So it's like comparing apples, oranges, and tangerines to figure out who has the best price.

The last one is that sometimes manufacturer's use a slighly different model number to distinguish the distribution route that's used. I've spotted this a few times, in the last few years. It's a way to counter some store's price matching + 10%, since the model numbers don't match.

Like I said, this is speculation. Will be interesting to learn if any of these are right or it's something else, entirely. Please do keep us posted.

Hello Everyone
Well I have yet to get an answer from Hitachi, I ordered the sander from Amazon.com a last week and it arrived yesterday, I was really surprize that it only took 1 day to ship, but I did not have to come all that far. I guess Amazon has a wearhouse in Carlisle, PA a place Evelyn and I know about we stop there over night when we go to New York State to visit family. We also found a nice place to eat there called the Sliver Spring Diner and then there is a Wegmans we shop at when we are on our way home and we a son who lives in York which is not to far from there. Any way I really like the sander, it was easy to set up, runs smooth and seams to ahve more then enough power. On one more thing it says SB10Y on the sander so I dont know were the SB10YI comes from and I may never know but I guess at this point it really does not matter.

I bought this sander back in november or december. I like it havent used it alot but have not had any issues from it. I bet the I stands for internet. Probably just a tracking number or something.

I just looked it up on amazon and my jaw dropped. I love amazon cause they are cheap and ship fast but i only paid 79.99 for this same sander from lowes.

But anyway like i say i havent had any problems with it as of yet.

Ben
