I did something dumb. I rounded off the threads on the tip of the drive coming out of my Dremel. I know its 9/32 in diameter. I plan on using a die (as in tap and die-hope I'm spelling it right) to rethread the end so I can get the attachments to screw on. My problem is I don't know the threads per inch so I don't know which die to buy. Help. Chase

Chase, can you take the nut that threads onto the Dremel to a hardware store and match it to a bolt or tap?

Did that at Home Depot. They don't have that size. In the process of searching the net. Chase

of course...they wouldn't have that size... If all else fails, Lee Valley has a new thread restoring tool that's supposed to work on any thread/pitch Have you tried a knife file? If you can get the first few threads fixed, you may be able to use the nut to restore the other threads... Bob

Tried the file, I'm to timid to get really aggressive. Found dies on line in 32 and 40 threads per inch. Also sent an e-mail to Dremel. Going to look at Lee Valley. Thanks Bob. Chase

Chase - Lay a ruler along side of the threads and count the threads per inch. If you don't have a whole inch you might have to do a little math. Say the threads only measure 1/2" long then count the threads and multiple by 2. A magnifying glass might come in handy. Just beware, the threads might be metric. If so, take note that 9/32" diameter equals 7.1438 mm. Good luck.

Chase - I checked my Dremel tool spindle. It mic's .275. That equals 7mm. The only 7mm thread I can find is M7 x 1.0 (pitch). You might have a hard time finding a die at Lowe's or Home Depot. You might have to order one or see if you can order a new spindle from Dremel. See chart: http://www.jarviscuttingtools.com/_p...nformation.pdf

Gt a response from Dremel. Said the diameter was "Thread size for the output shaft on current Dremel rotary tools is .28 x 40 threads per inch and is unique to this type of tool. " I think the diameter is .28125 I really appreciate all the help. Chase
