One other question since we're on the subject...

Are the arms that hold the blades supposed to be able to be tightened to the point that they don't move at all from side to side? I've tightened mine as as far as they'll go but there is still some movement. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be like this or maybe there should be some washers in there that have worn away. My poor old saw

I Can't recall Janette. From memory there is a bit of slop in the arms. If I remember I'll jeck on mine. It hasn't done many miles and the block that holds the adjusting rod stripped so it's sitting in the shed collecting dust until I get around to having a helicoil put in it.

When mine were new there was a little freeplay side to side there, and I didnt tighten them up at all.Now, years later, there is a little bit more side to side movement there, but it doesnt seem to be affecting my cutting so I am not going to fiddle with it.
