I have been using the FD 2-way cutting blades, I seem to get alot of vibration with them. I am no expert sawman but have been doing it for ~ 3 years and I still have trouble using the smaller delicate blades. Do you think I am using the wrong blades? And can you maybe recommend new blades or techniques for me? Thanks

What do you mean by 2 way blade? If you are talking about a normal reverse tooth blade that has about 13 teeth facing up then you may have the blade in upside down.

Rolf, He is talking about the FD-TC. It has two teeth down and one up. He emailed me and I told him that he might not have enough speed and pushing too hard into the blade. Instead of cutting, the blade grabs the wood. I never heard that a blade could make the saw vibrate. Mike

I have used the two way blades and never experienced any vibes from it. I'm not really crazy about 'em. I do like the double tooth blades with no reverse teeth. They leave a good fairly clean cut and gives me much more control of the blade. The smallest blade that I use is a #1.

I love the FD-TC blades. You will have issues if you are trying to use them in relatively thick wood. By thick, Im meaning over about 3/4th inch thickness either stacked, or solid. The problem that comes to mind is that the sawdust doesnt get expelled well from the cut as you are going along, which in turn causes the blade to bind, heat up, and ultimately wear out quickly. You dont mention your saw, or exactly what material, and thickness you are cutting, both key things in helping to determine your problems. I use a Dewalt scroll saw, I run it at about 3/4ths full speed, and use the Fd-TC blades in size #1 , #3 and #5 . The smaller ones on the thinner stuff, the bigger ones on the thicker stuff obviously. One thing to check also is proper tension, be sure you install the blade with two teeth down, one up, not the other way, and dont force your cut, let the blade do the work, especially on turns, dont force it. You might want to give a couple other blade styles a try, I would suggest you try the FD Polar blades,I use them frequently for thicker materials, and also try the FD-UR blades, everyone seems to like those.

Hi Mandy. I am wondering, buy the 2 way do you meen crown tooth. or the urls. and what thickness of wood are you cutting ? with what size blade. just wondering. your friend Evie Ps. welcome to the forum. you say you have been doing scrolling for 3 years. the same quistion I ask above, is still my quistion. I think if you are having vibration, that is normally the saw, maybe the table is not squar with the blade. or the small blade your are trying to use is not fit for the thickness of the wood. or maybe your saw is not stable . what saw are you using. just some quistions, to see where we are going. your new friend Evie |
