Default Which Locktite to use.

The set screw on the upper blade holder of my EX-21 keeps coming loose causing the blade to misalign. I have seen a lot of people recommend using Locktite on the screw. My experience with Locktite in the aviation industry was that it held very hard and in a lot of cases would scrap the screw if you tried to remove it. Is there now a Locktite that will hold securly but not freeze the screw in place.

Tom, I use the blue also for a temporary bond. I believe the red is the permanent bond.

Thanks for the input. I was only familiar with the red so I was reluctant to use it in this application. I don't think I have seen the blue in Canada but as I was never really looking perhaps it is available.

As a trial I wrapped the thread with plumbers teflon tape before I reinstalled it. Seemed to snug it up pretty good. I'll give it a few hours of sawing to see if it stands up.

I can't help with the Locktite, but couldn't help noticing how little things are different all over the world.
in Oz, Locktite is a brand name and includes ever thing from Various superglues to bearing fixative.
We call, what you are looking for thread tight.

I had the same problem when I changed the set screws on my Dewalt blade holders. Put some blue locktite on there, and no more problems.

John,
Locktite is a brand name here also. It's main claim to fame was Threadlock so the name Loctite came to be the generic name for it.

Now now Rolf...John's just trying to make a claim that an Aussie actually invented something useful.
