Well, really its not a new problem. More like resurrection of other posts. Anyway, this my 3rd saw, been sawing for a few years however have been away from the hobby for about a year and going back to it. I remember now part of why I stepped back. I love the way this saw changes blades - on top. The bottom blade holder is a nightmare for me. Okay, here's waht I mean and forgive me my rambling. When placing a blade in the top blade holder, place the blade between the pieces of metal and tighten the screw holding them in just a hair and then close the clamp. You feel it when it hits that "locked" position. THe bottom blade holder never "locks". Never has. Consequently I can make a few cuts, if I am lucky, and hten the clamp un-clamps and the blade pops out. I really, REALLY enjoy this hobby and had made quite a few really nice projects. I have a friend in S. Africa who is having a baby soon and I really would like to get her a baby/memory box made and sent before the child comes in early june. Can anyone offer any suggestions on how to remedy this short of buying a 4th saw? |

Make sure the bottom holder has that little spring the holds pressure to the wire clip. You may also have a bolt or nut that has been stripped. That is a 3.5 m steel bolt that screws into a nylon nut that has aluinum threads. Tou may also have a broken bevel washer that goes before the nut. If so all these parts xcan be ordered from Black and decker through the delta number but hurry to order the parts they tell me when they are gone they are gone and the saw is no longer made (which is a very sore spot with me)

Well, hubby and I went and looked at the two clamps to see what the difference was in how they worked and he felt the bottom clamp bar thing was bent just a tad too far and that was not allowing it to move far enough to actually lock into place. He "unbent" it a little and now it seems to be working like a charm. |
