it seems to wobble toward you and bend the bottom of the blade not from the side of the blade when I tighten the thumb screws the blade starts to bow outward.

I would think that the screw is making the blade bow. is is passable to look at the blade while you are tighting it. and try to keep it straight. just my 2 cents. your friend Evie

Default Dewalt 788 problem

HI
Take the bottom thumbscrew completely out and check to see if the end of it turns. That is supposed to turn freely so it doesn't bend the blade when you tighten it up. If it doesn't rotate around, hit it with some wd40 and a rag and wipe it good and then try to turn it with the rag and see if it moves. They tend to get gummed up. Otherwise you may need a new thumbscrew. Call 7 corners ace hardware in St. Paul Minnesota, they carry Dewalt parts.
Good luck
Bill

I think that all scrollsaws have a blade vibraiting problem but I thought when I started using my first dewalt 788 it was supposed to be smoth cutting and not so much vibration of the blade thats why I sent it back and when it came back it did the same thing .
