A couple weeks ago my husband rounded up a bunch of junk.... er fine used woodworking tools that we hadn't been using and took them to an auction. He got a check for 103.00 for the stuff. So he used that money (plus a little more) to buy me this: Sander.jpg Isn't she beautiful!!! It seems that Fein's patent has finally run out so there are a bunch of companies coming out with their own versions of the Multimaster. I did my research on these and decided on this one. The web site Tool Snob - The Online Source for Tool News and Reviews had some very good reviews!! I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but will let you know what I think!!! By the way Bob, D, this might be a great one for you to review for the magazine!!

Cathy, That is a super tool. Now that Fein has competition maybe the crazy accessory prices will come down. I have the Fein version of this that I bought the kit a couple of years ago. If the Rockwell works as well as the Fein it will soon be indespensible. For the sanding I bought hook and loop sandpaper rolls for another tool and now cut my own triangles for the Fein.

Rolf, I'm hoping that it will be a good one!! I just tried it to sand and it seems to work pretty well!! My husband seems to think it might be a bit heavier than the Fein. Do you know how much the Fein weighs?? I didn't think the weight was an issue as I just had to "steer" it. That baby just glided along!! Can you tell me where you buy the hook and loop sandpaper rolls? Thanks for the reply!!

Cathy, I buy all my sanding supplies, mops etc from Klingspore. I suspect that is where it all comes from any way and everyone puts their own name on it with aa markup. Klingspor's Woodworking Shop, Woodworking Supplies, Tools, Discs, Sanding Sleeves, Sandpaper, Belts, Klingspor's, Klingspor's, Proxxon Just do hook and loop in the search window. According to the specs the net weight is 2.4 pounds and the cord is 16 feet long (handy) I weighed it with the sanding bits on it and it was 2.6 pounds The cord also adds to it depending how much of it is hanging. I also have Porta cable detail sander. I find that the sanding motion with this motion (the Fein and the one you bought) is much more aggressive.

I too have used the fein version...the only downfall was the price of the blades..do you know what the replacement blades cost? Depending on what your cutting they last a long time, but they will eventually wear out. Just curious????????/ Thanks Rick

Rick, I just looked it up on Amazon and you can get 3 End Cut Blades for 40.00 or 3 Segment Sawblades for 27.00. I just quickly looked up some replacement blades for the Fein and they were much more than that. I think I'm going to like this thing!!!

I have been using my Fein tool for the past 5 years in my hardwood flooring business for undercutting door jambs, logs, stairs. Most of the material I cut is hickory, maple, oak, Ipe, Brazilian Cherry, Acadia just to mention a few. As most of you know, these are heavy weight woods. This tool works awesome. I have had people try this out and one contractor went and bought 10 of them for his crews. The only downfall is the price of the blades, as mentioned. I have been getting them online, but needed to buy one a few weeks back locally and they run around $40.00 a blade, for the E-cut. I normally get the fine metal cutting incase of fine nails which I encounter.
