Wink A Final Solution

Well I tried everything I could to get the Skil 3335 working so it wouldn't take my fingers off...No Luck!!!

The person that donated the money for the saw to help my mission just happen to stop by...when I told them about the problem...they reached into their pocket and pulled out a "Benny" and asked if I could take that one back and combine it with this to get a better one.

Well I said...let me check to see what other people are using and what they think about it... I didn't have to many choices in this area, Mainly Lowe's.

I called them and they had a Hitachi CW-40...so after reading what members said, and online reviews...I went and bought it.

I am now the proud owner of a Hitachi CW-40

I got it set up this afternoon, but only had time to turn it on and see if it worked...

Wow talk about the difference between night and day!!!

I can't wait to see what it can do tomorrow.

It's not a dewalt 788 that's for sure, but I think it will do just fine until I can actually afford one better.

I am curious...What do the members think?

Rick

One of our members brought one in, other than blade clamp access on the bottom I liked it. For the money and what I see on the market right now I think it is a great entry, find out if I like this hobby saw.

Please let us know if this solves the "chatter" problem from your other thread.

Default The Hitachi is.....

the twin of my Craftsman and I am having a ball learning this craft.
Runs smooth, cuts well and the only drawback I find is the 'rear mount' tension knob. Thinking of drilling a hole in it and attaching an upright handle to make it a bit more comfortable to tighten the tension.
Has anyone tried this?

Lower blade clamp access was tight for my big paw so I just took off the side cover, laid it on the table and made the access opening bigger!

Hi All:

I purchased a Hitachi in February of this year. Cuts great with no problems so far. Like mentioned...Remove the plastic side cover and you got plenty of room to get to that pesky lower blade holder.

I tried the saw out for just a coulple of minutes...as I was sanding all the puzzles I made (P.S. Thanks for the sanding edge tip..it looks much better) No Chatter so far, but I was only making test cuts on a piece of scrap wood with the factory blade. I'll let you know tomorrow.

I've made a lot of sawdust with my CW40 and have absolutely no complaints. Like everyone else, the first thing to go was the side panel and then the holddown foot.

Hope to get back on mine tomorrow and make a few holes in some oak that didn't get finished prior to winter.

Question Update

Well I finally got to use my new CW-40 Today
I too took off the side panel, and Hold Down Foot

I really like the saw...it should work out great.

Question Though????
I see that a lot of scrollers have a board mounted to the table of their saw...this apparently makes it larger in all directions...I guess it also gives you a Zero Clearence (or close).
What type of wood and thickness would be best for this?
Thanks
Rick
