Hi Everyone, I'm new to this site and associated message board. I recently purchased a used Sears Craftsman Hobby size scroll saw which utilizes 3 inch pinned blades. I have a puzzle project [see attached puzzle layout] that requires a 3 inch. Pinned SPRIAL scroll saw blade to make all the cuts starting from one single starting hole. I have searched many web sites, via a number of different search engines, but have not be able to locate this specific blade that I will need to accomplish this project. If anyone can provide me with a web site [URL] which sells a package of 3 Inch. Pinned SPRIAL scroll saw blades, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, UHLES |

Big red S, Checked the URL that you provided in your response. The blades shown are not the SPIRAL type that cut in a 360 degrees, but do sincerely appreciate the time that you took to respond to my request for assistance. Thank you UHLES |

Buy the 5" spiral blades and cut them to 3" with a pair of pliers. The top and bottom teeth of the blade don't get used anyway. If you must use pins just bend the tops. Hey... it could work ![]() By the way, cool looking project. Make sure you post the end result for us to look at.

Big red S, Thanks for the tip on purchasing the 5" blades and cutting off the ends. I'll give it a try. I will post the pics of the project when completed. Thanks again for your assistance. UHLES |

| NO company ever made a spiral with pins. I don't understand why you want to use a spiral blade. The pattern you sent would be good to cut with a straight blade. Spiral blades make a very wide kerf what would not look good for that pattern. The puzzle would be way too loose and the pieces would fall out very easy. Pin blades also make wide kerfs what again is not good for puzzles. Did you buy it new from Sears? If so, bring it back and get a saw what takes 5" blades. Most pattern designers make only patterns for pin-less blades. I don't know if you even can buy any 3" pin blades anymore. I don't think that you can cut the blade in half, the steel is hardened and will break when you bend one end. Besides you need two sides to hold it in the clamp. Mike
