Default Scrollsaw Blades

I've always bought my blades from RBI but now that they have closed, I'm wondering where I will be able to buy them from now. I mainly use the reverse tool blades. I've always bought from RBI to make sure I don't get cut (it's taught me some very bad habits though)...I've been told it's something with the vibration of the saw that allows it to cut hard material, but when it comes to something soft like your finger, the blade flexes and won't cut you right away. If I buy blades from someone else, will it do the same?

Thanks for answering my question...I feel a little stupid asking it!

Jerri

Hi Jerri, Get touch with Mike at Mike's workshop. He will fix you up with the kind of blades you need and I promise they will be good blades. Just tell him what you need. David

I am not 100% sure, but I believe the blades sold by RBI were made at the same place the Flying Dutchman blades are made.

Default Blades

I have been scrolling for anumber of years. I use Flying Dutchman from Mikes workshop. You won't get cut unless you put your finger right on the blade on purpose. Try the new FD ultra reverse, 3 down 1 up all the way down the blade.

Jerri, any tool that cuts wood will cut a finger. I have been scrolling for over 16 years and have yet to be cut. I have made hundreds of tiny intricate cuts with my fingers almost touching the blade. Just don't let your fingers come in contact with the blade. Hammering a nail is a different story, have had several black fingernails.

With my saw, I can turn it on, cut a piece of wood and then put my finger on the blade while it is on, and it will not cut me and then cut another piece of wood no problem. I assumed that all RBI Hawk saws were made like this. Does anyone know if this is true?
