Hello all, In my process of looking to buy a scroll saw I've come across a Hegner Multimax 2 14" saw that was built in 1985. I'm told it has not been used often. Need some guidance deciding. Thanks. |

NNarsi, Hegner saws are great saws. I would try it out to see if there are any strange noises and check for vibration. Don't know what kind of blade clamps that saw would have. You want a saw that is easy to change blades, with controls up front. I guess the price would be a big determining factor. Sorry for not too much help, don't know that much about Hegners. Good luck.

Thanks Mick, You're a great help in the sense that you more or less confirmed what another gentleman had suggested about this matter. I'm letting this one go. Too pricey for the age and not sure how's the parts availability. Thanks again. NA |

When buying a used saw make sure you try it out. I have a Dewalt saw that looks real nice. It has several thousand hours on it and I now use it to cut metal. For those buying a first saw try and find someone who is familliar with scroll saws to check out that used saw before you buy it. It seems a lot of used saws get mentioned on this site by people that are just starting out and they all are only slightly used. Yeah right and I have a bridge beside my nice used Dewalt.

Thanks Gordie, Alan and Chance. I am fortunate. My teacher/mentor will help me out. He's a big fan of Dewalt, 788 I think it is. And has good words to say about Hegner. Your observations are so on the dot. That's what Norm said too. Thanks again. na |
