I was wondering if anyone waxes their scroll saw table and if so what do you use? I have a Hitachi CW40 which is a metal table with a plastic insert around the blade hole so I would need something that would be ok to use on both.

I use Johnson's Paste Wax.........I read that a silicone based wax is a no no, because it interacts with wood when you want to put a finish on it.

Johnson's paste wax is the way to go. I use it on my RBI about once a week.

I've heard of people using Johnson's Paste Wax. My Grandad uses TopCote from Bostix on his table saw. I don't know if it's silicone based or not but it's a spray on let it dry wipe off and he really likes it. I thought I might give it a try. The only bad thing is I can't find it in the store I would have to order it online where as with the Johnson's Paste Wax I can get that at lowes. Plus the Johnson's looks like it will go further and it's a LOT cheaper. TopCote being about $18 plus shipping for a spray can and the Johnson's being around $5.

I use Pam cooking spray on all my table tops, planer, jointer band saw and scrollsaw. Spray on a little ,wipe off, slick as glass ,no smell,no residue, cheap. Mike midlothianwoodworks.com |

The Bostik is the best and is made in Michigan..we sure need some money in this state. Otherwise, the johnsons paste wax works fine. No doubt Pam is ok. None of these contain silicone. A car wax will contain silicone. Reason for that is that silicone will contaminate your wood so when you go to apply a finish, the finish will bead off the silicone. DAMHIKT.

I use pure Beeswax on the scrollsaw. For my tablesaw, jointer and bandsaw I use Top-Kote.
