HI I have a big Dewalt 788, but I was thinking of getting a smaller benchtop saw to be able to do demos at different place...library etc for promoting scroll sawing just for the fun of it. I was wondering anyone has the 16 inch variable speed delta which is now Black and Decker and if it works ok for them. I have a Delta 2 speed at my sons house, I may go borrow that and try it also. I like the blade holders on the delta or b&d better than others I have looked at. I know I can get one for $118 at Fleet Farm here in Wisconsin and occasionaly on sale for 99 bucks Thanks Bill |

I used a VS Delta exclusively for many years, I would still use it if it wasnt in a van that was stolen, LOL It is a very serviceable saw for a portable unit. I used to use it at the fair for demos. At that time my partner was using an RBI hawk and the people could compare both saws. I also had a 2 speed at one time but I found the VS much better.
