Not strictly a scroll saw question but this is for a carpenter/furniture maker friend of mine who has a small factory close by and who I owe more than a few favours All his work is in best quality mahogany and the workmanship is nothing short of excellent so he really relies on good tools and accessories. He buys 1/2" wide, 5 or 6 teeth per inch bandsaw blade by the roll which he then welds to size locally but he tells me that of late the quality of the blade he has been getting is really poor and the teeth blunt and wear out really quickly He's looking for a really good quality band saw blade supplier and the price is not an issue provided the quality is the best. If anyone can point me in a good direction to help him I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance

Hi Jim I like the blades I get from highlandwoodworking.com . They have a blade that is called the "wood slicer" that is made just for resawing and it has done a good job for me.

I get all mine from Suffolk Tool company. They make Timberwolf blades. From what i understand they make blades for everything from 9" saws to big comercial bandmills. The phone number is 800.234.7297 These folks have the best customer service I've ever dealt with. The have a web site but the last I knew it was an information site not a retail site. Pat

Jim: A bit Off Topic: Your friend may want to check the wear on the band saw wheel tires and the spring(s) on the tension mechanism. The band saw wheel tires are to help cushion the teeth so the 'set' of the teeth are not squished by the upper and lower wheels. Reduced set could lead to higher blade temperature due to more friction inside the kerf. How hot are the blades running lately? Phil |

I would suggest Band Saw Blades LENOX Bandsaw Blades - Band Saw Blades for the Professional and Home Hobbyist, Carbon Steel, Bi-Metal and Carbide Tipped , or a place called Iturra Design , as well as Suffolk which was mentioned. Louis, at Iturra is a very helpful guy, heres a contact number for them you could pass along 1-866-883-8064 Even though you mention price is not an issue to your friend..to me price and quality are very important, so I would any of the three mentioned as all are good quality and value.
