Might be a dumb question here but has anyone put a riser block on a 14in bandsaw. 6 inch riser that is and what would be your blade length after that. right now i'm at 93 1/2? Jesse

I had one on my old 14" saw, I thunk it was an 8" riser so it added 16" to the blade lenght. It was an import saw and I had a hard time getting the tension high enough. I sold it and bought an 18" band saw. Problem solved. A freind has the riser on his Delta 14" and he says it works great.

I have put a 6" riser on my Jet saw and I have no problem with it. It does work very well and makes it so I can cut up to 12". I also put roller guide blocks on as well. It now requires a 105" blade that I get from Highland Woodworking.

I've also got a Jet 14 that I've put a riser into. It works very well and lets me cut taller wood. This is very nice for resawing. I believe that my blades are also 105". I use the Timberwolf blades. I get them at Woodcraft.

I put the 6" Riser on my Grizzly G0555 and it allows me to resaw up to 12" widths now. Well worth the investment. The saw now uses 105" blades also.

I found increasing the saw height with no extra power is a waste of good money. I start the re-saw on the table saw (3 HP)doing both top and bottem side with a thin kerf blade keeping the same side to the fence which can you get 6 to 7 in. cut. Now go to the bandsaw with riser block and complete re-saw cut. If you are going to be doing alot of resawing you should be buying about a 3HP model. Lagunatools.com has a video and very informative site. You might want to phone them . Norman |

Jesse there are no dumb questions here! It is how we all learn. I too put in a 6" riser in my Delta saw and the blade length is now 105". I also added the Carter roller guides. What is the horsepower on your saw? It takes a bit more beef to pull through 12” of wood.

I would say add the riser right away, before you invest in a bunch of the 93 1/2inchers. Even if you never need to resaw anything using the full height, adding the riser will give you a little more clearance tween the table and the top, for reaching through, or seeing better or for any special jigs you ever make. Also, with the 105 blade, you have an extra foot of blade so it will run a tad bit cooler, wether it makes much difference I dont know, but theorhetically it should, and a few more teeth so less fatigue on the blade. The only drawback to adding the riser, at least on my Jet, was that I lost about 1/2 inch of throat because of the way the block is designed, so it turned it into a 13 1/2 inch throat instead of a 14 inch, but i am glad i have the riser on mine.
