I'm a newbie. Just bought a Delta 40-601. I'm getting the impression from boards that quick clamps are the way to go. Is there a Quick clamp available/compatible for a Delta 40-601? I see the Quickclamp II for later models but can find no info anywhere. Thanks. |

efreedus, I am not familiar with that model Delta. I have the P-20 with the Quick clamp II clamps and think they are the best clamps out there. Some people do not like them but I have always had good luck with them. You could try Tool Parts Direct . com - The Online Tool Repair Parts Store they may be able to help you. Click on Delta then on Delta other saws. Good luck.

I went up to DeWalt Servicenet and looked up your parts drawing. It seems you have one of the old 'C' arm delta saws. Rick Hutchenson might have more information. Rick's Scrollsaw From what I can see from the following link.... DeWALT ServiceNET - Official Online Store for DeWALT, Porter Cable, Delta, and Black and Decker Parts I think you can at least try to replace the upper blade chuck with the standard Quick clamp; it looks the same. I don't know about the clearances below the table for the Quickset II (40-251) release lever. BTW: in the above drawing, it looks like part #14 is the roll pin that must be pressed out to install the replacement clamp. Kind of tricky that press out, just don't use a hammer, follow instructions on package. Item #9 is the rubber grommet that needs to be replaced about once a year or every 18 months or so. Order several grommets from DeWalt service center. There is also a piviot shaft bolt, item # 3, I recommend you also contact Rick if it should be removed and cleaned very well and then inspected for excessive wear. He might have a clue as to which luburcate to use when re-installing. Most Delta's use SAE 30wt non-detergent oil. 3-in-One Blue can at Lowes and HD is almost the same suff; I think it is 20wt oil (don't use red can for this, use Blue can of 3-in-One.) On my old delta, which is not like yours, there are two sealed ball bearings that attach the motor to the lower arm. These sealled ball bearings are standard off-the-shelf at industrial bearing stores. Should be one near you. Saw dust makes them go bad. Check with Rick before dis-assembly. Hopes this helps.
