I figure this is a good spot to put this question. I am making a ring right now and once I have finished cutting it I wanted to shape it up a little bit. So I grabbed my rotary tool. Unfortunately I am very new to using a rotary tool. I tried using the sandpaper attachment(the one that is a little round barrel shaped piece of sandpaper that slips over a little round thingy that attaches to the tool). I'm pretty sure that kinda makes sense. Anyway as I started sanding the piece the sandpaper kept sliding up and down and eventually I lost it and it shot across the shop. Is there some other attachment piece that I could use or am I just using the sandpaper attachment incorrectly?

Some sanding bands have a screw and some have a nut.You just need to tighten the nut or screw more.Tony

Cool thanks. I will try that. Mine has a screw on top. Wasn't sure if that's what I had to do or not. I'll let you know if it works.

Ok I'm an idiot. Thanks for pointing out the obvious. I always wondered what that screw was there for. I tried it out this afternoon and it worked like a charm. I finished my ring finally and didn't lose a single piece of sandpaper. |
