I have a Hegner 22v. I started cutting some 1/3/4 and noticed the piece coming out was smaller at the top than the bottom. I thought the solution was the bed was twicked. The bed is level in both directions. I'm using a 5R blade. Thanks Bill ASAP Please. |

Possibly blade drift. If it is thicker at the beginning and thinner at the far end. If it is thicker on the top of the piece of wood and thinner on the bottom (where the wood touches the table) it is blade alignment. Try using a credit card or playing card to check the squareness of the blade to the table. If you don't have a small square.

Bill. I am not sure what you mean, but I can only guess at 1an 3/4" wood. my guess your might be pushing the wood. gosh. I don't really know what you mean. are you meaning you made the cut, and the top is the right size, and the bottom of the cut is more wider, or smaller. that would be a bevel cut. if your pushing side to side. but maybe , I just don't understand. did you level the blade to the table?? sorry need more information. your friend Evie

Minowevie you understand right. the piece I pulled out was just like a bevel cut. the piece I cut was kind of an oval, when I pulled it out it was cone shaped. Actually you solved the problem. I haven't been scrolling much latley, been covered up with other wood work. I just ran out there and checked the bed to blade and it was off. I had leveled the bed, but idiot that I am I forgot to level the blade to the table. Ya did pretty good for not understanding. Thanks a Big bush, got a customer thats chumping at the bit. |

Thanks for sharing that with me, that's pretty cool. I'll share mine with you. I used to race drag race cars, one ran 2 tenths under the national record for that class (Gasser), (which probably means nothing to you). Anyway I was always turning wrenches (a wrench has a open end and closed end the hexhead and the guys started calling me hexhead and it stuck, so there ya have it want it or not! Have a special evening. Last edited by Hexhead; 12-28-2008 at 05:07 AM. Reason: typos |

If you're cutting wood that thick I'd suggest using at least a #7 if not a #9. I have that problem with 1" really hard woods using a #7. If your wood is soft a 7 might be enough. I never use a 5 for anything over 3/4 and even then, only if the 3/4 is soft.
