Has anyone done a price/performance comparison on saws? I recently broke the (receiver?) on mine, too many Christmas gifts I suppose. It's an old Dremel mod 1672 and I think I'll look at other brands. Something simple and not too expensive. I know you guys are very passionate about your saws, I'm just looking for some info w/o driving myself crazy trying to find it. Not to start a war or anything. ![]() Thanks to all, Kevin |

Just my experience I have two delta Q-3's 18" I bought them back in the 90's and they were good, but listening to other people on this site about Excalibur saw. So I bought one and really enjoy the saw will probably buy another one if this one dies, only draw back I can see for some people is the cost. Sometimes cheaper is not better.

Yes I hear the Excailbur is great but how much does it cost? Working on a budget. |

The most popular saw is the Dewalt. I put several thousand hours on my first one, and then bought the new Ex30 from Excalibur. I did not like it at all and took it back and bought another Dewalt for half the price.

I started with a basement cheap (just to make sure I would like the "hobby") - totally addicted now. My second machine (which is my back up) is a Dremmel - but my "baby" is the DeWalt 788. I have tried the Excalibur, but for the price - the DeWalt won. But like anything else, it depends on what you are comfortable with, and of course the cost of the Excalibur was a factor. For me thought, my vote goes with the DeWalt - love the fact there is a certified repair shop right in my neighborhood. |

I used a Dremel for 10 years and my wife bought me a Dewalt for Christmas last year. I can't believe the difference. I could never go back to the Dremel.

Hello Everyone. I am currently using a second hand Dremel 1680 and it has been working well for me but then I am relatively new to the Scroll Saw World so I really have nothing to compare it to but when I upgrade to a better saw I hope to go with the DeWalt.

Hi Brian, the solution is easy!! Do what I did, move to Canada from Scotland and then buy a Dewalt saw.
