Hi all. well we are trying to make some new tools out of some of are old motors. I wonted to make a buffing wheel out of one of are old motors, and desiced i wonted a 2 sided, like a grinder so I could put 2 buffing wheels on each side.( basic madrel thing) also using them for sanding drums. but then hubby came up with this little cutie. for my mop sander. this motor was behind all the others. sooooo this is what he did. it was a chainsaw sharpening thing. and he took off the housing, and, cut the frame down , to make it all smaller,to hold my mop sander. it is in my vise right now. but will bolt down anywhere. then i ask him, would it be posabal to make the arbor . with treads to hold a old drill chuck. and yep he did. . so now I can just use any thing. that would go on my drill press. it holds up to 1/2" shaft. and will hold the mop or drum. it does have a light, but vibrates to much. so I will take it off. but the other buffing wheel thing is in the make. bigger motor. that runs 3400 rpms. it is a 3/4 horse. and will handel the drums better. but the motor for the mop sander is only,1/4 horse, that runs right and left handed, and only 2000 rpms. and the chuck he made the treads for . can go both ways with the added set screw into the shaft. so it doesn't come undone. hehe. are you confused yet. anyway what I am trying to say is, the small motor, goes so slow, and goes in 2 directions. and is perfect for the 6" mop. and will fit in a small place in my sanding station.and it goes in the revers direction. what else could we use it for. hear are some pictures. your friend Evie

I've still got the motor from my old Delta single speed, so I think I will be recycling it into a sander/buffer come spring!. Thanks for the idea and the picks on how to make a bracket.

Hi Evie, looks like you have a great tool there. When are they going to drop off the next container for you? Actually if you get 3 more you could form a square with a courtyard in the middle. Anyway thanks for sharing.

Pretty nice new tool you made. I have heard the big 3 phase motors can be re-worked to create electricity for wind-mills or hydro-electric, but wouldn't have a clue how to do it.
