Default Cutting Windshield Glass

I just bought 10 front windshields that fit the front of a double decker bus from the government auction. They are 8 feet by 43". I just wanted one of them to make a small roof over the doggy door in the house. Anyway I was wondering if I could cut them with a diamond blade or some such blade.
Thanks in advance if you can help me. at leaste with this! lol..

Allen,
you can cut them with a diamond saw, HOWEVER, please be aware that windshields tend to be a tempered glass / plastic sheet sandwich. The tempered glass alone is hard to cut. You might end up with little 4mm square pieces in the place of the windscreen. To cut tempered glass that thick you need a LOT of lubrication/cooling. To watch any of the shows that show any manufacturer making things that they need to cut tempered glass like those windscreens they use a fluid bath to do it in.

I had laminated tempered glass cut for my scroll sawed coffee table. The glass guy said it was similar to windshield glass. Anyway, he used a glass gutter to score and break it like any other glass. The tool looked much larger though and he used some sort of fluid on the glass before scoring it.

I had some tempered glass cut several years ago at a store fixtures display company. Also call a local glass company and see what they say.

Remember Allen, to use a diamond blade, you need water. Why not emailing this company:
Scrollit Frank might be able to help you.

I have a scroll saw that takes nothing but diamond blades and it has a constant water feed to the cut. I don't think you can cut tempered glass. I use mine in my stained glass work but it's 1/8" and non tempered. Check with a neighborhood glass house. The windshield people all handle other types of things check with them.
