I bought a Hatachi CW-40 when they 1st came out. It has been a great machine for the money. I have had no problems in the year or so I have had it. It has been a solid worker. Only real thing about the saw I did not like was the light. It was too dim for these tired eyes. For the $150 range of saws there is no equal in my opinion. Dewalt, and the others cost a lot more but for a 1st saw it defiantly is a great buy.

I don't have the Hitachi, but I used the craftsman which I believe is the same saw except for the color.

While it isn't anywhere near my Dewalt, it was/is a fine saw and I never had a problem with it at all. I mounted it on a wooden stand and it had very little vibration.

Hey
I own the 16" Dremel. Great saw for the first 2 yrs. Last year I had to replace the balancer thingy I should know the name but my mind is blank. After last year winter I have completely worn it out. I done a few small things on it this cold season but it is just so hard to use because of all the vibration. This is the only saw Ihave used so I can't say anything about them. I am in the prosess of buying the Hawk G4. It is very Exspensive But I think it will be worth it. I am just hoping I do not ever have to buy another one. It does say the first sceduled maintenance is 20,000 hrs. Although some times My wife thinks I am out in the shop that long in one winter.
Hope it helps.

I bought a Hitachi CW40 and worked with it for three weeks. The controller board went out. They were willing to repair, but it was 60 miles one way. That means four trips and at $3 per gal for gas I looked for an alternative. I returned it to Lowes for full refund and bought a DeWalt.
