My Dewalt scroll saw has developed a noise in the upper arm. It seems to be vibrating more. I am cutting a puzzle with 3/4" white oak, using a #5 double skip tooth Olson blade. I have slowed down the speed which seems to have taken out some of the vibration. The noise is also less. Is this to be expected with the stock I'm using, or does the saw need maintenance? I read where I could remove the switch and turn the rod inside the upper arm counter clockwise to take care of the noise. The tension level is attached to this rod. This seems to have helped a bit, but not too much. Is there something else I should be doing? My saw has seen a few hundred of hours over the past ten years. Thanks. Baking |

Sorry to hear you are having that problem. It seems allot of the DeWalt saws had the same problem. I had 5 of the saws with the same problem that would not go away. Bought one and keep taking them back after I tried to fix them, finally gave up. Hope you find the correct problem and get it fixed.

Check out the last article on this web site titled "Finally the real fix for the knocking!!!!" : Tune-Up & Repairs to the Dewalt If you already tried adjusting the control rod, you will be familiar with how to get to the part in question so it should be easy enough to check out. Hello, Markdavd. Thank you for the help. This is the article I found. I tried this remedy. It did not seem to do much. I only turned the tension rod twice counter clockwise, so maybe I should continue with a few more turns. I appreciate the assistance.

| Did you see the part at the bottom of the web page where you file off a part of the plate the tension rod sits in? This will solve the knock if it's caused by the top arm hitting the plate.
