Default RAS New home.

Hi all. as some of you know. I got a RAS. so now I have been trying to figure out a way to put it in my new shop. as some of you know. I got one of those cargo containers. and it is only 7"9' wide x 40'. I divided it into 3 rooms. so my main shope is only 22' x 7'9". and that big boy just is so big.I already have my shop filled with lots of tools and wood. and this saw take up alot of room , and to use it I need space . so hear is what I am doing with it. the first picture is of the 3rd room. where I put my ATV and as you can see there is no way I could put in in there with the front table sticking out. soooo hear is what I am doing. I decided, that I could take the main tool off the stand that it was on. and make a new stand, that will bolt to the wall of my container. it will swing all the way to a 90 either way. that will get it out of the way of that room to park my ATV. it will only be 9" to 1' off the wall. it will be on strong legs to hold it, and bolted to the wall. will keep it from falling foward will cutting. then I will make a hinged table that will drop down and out of the way. the hinged table will have some fold up legs to fold under it. and lower the table . it will have a trap door to get to the crank. I wish I could have done something different there, but the crank has to work from the front , so the saw can stop at 0-45- and 90 both ways. I was trying to get the crank to work from the side, but no way. it sets on a bearing holding the gear to turn the round shaft up and down. and it can't be changed. so I will shorten it. and make a pop out door to crank it from the drop down table. Hubby thinks I am crazy, but after he seen my plans, he is all for it, and willing to help me make it happen. the whole thing will only stick out only 9" to 1' from the wall and I can take out my ATV and have a long table to work off of. in a 10'x 7'9" room. cutting long boards that will go to the outside opening door. I am so thrilled that I can do this. sorry this is so long, but could make it short. hear are the pictures. the ATV room. see no room. saw against the wall. and the crank case. and the table I am going to cut down to hold the saw, and bolt to the wall. then make a 5' table to drop down on. your friend Evie

Ps. this is just the start of it. will show pictures after it all up and running. I also forgot to add that the hindged table, will come out 2 or 2 1/2 feet. x 5' wide. how cool is that.

You go girl, Its great to see how you are making a wonderfull shop out of a hunk of steel. I hope it works the way you want. If not, there is no dought you will figure out another way. A women with smarts is hard to beat.
Maybe you could mount a vise on the atv and just drive back and forth with a board being fed into the saw. Naw that sounds to much like "Tim the toolman" lol.

Alan now thats a complement for sure. tim the toolman. as you all know, I am a tool junkie, and love to find a way to fit them into my shop. I have to confess, I was inspired again, buy John Polhemus, he has a article on his very small shop. and I thought if he can get all those tools in his very tiny ,shop. so can I. so I thought, how can this be done. I don't have the floor space. but I do have walls , and air space. so I thought about the structure, then the weight, then the movement of the tool. how do I make it smaller, then , use it the way it can be used. so thats how I came up with this. I will show pictures after it is all done. I love my table saw, and chop saw. but this saw does some assume things. thanks for your replys. your friend Evie

Would it be possible to install the table saw a bit higher on longer legs so the atv slides underneath it on the other side of your shop. It might be easier to build a folding floor to stand on if you move the atv out when using your saw.
They other idea is to park the atv on a platform with 4 hd casters so it could go in sidways. That way the atv would not take as much space along the wall. If this is not clear but sounds possible let me know and I will draw it out.
Or just ignore me cause you sure seem to figure things out real well.lol...
