I have an old sears / craftsman that has the same problem . I made up a thumb scew by finding a bolt with the same thread and welding a small washer on the end . I found there isn't enough room to get my finger's under the table to turn the screw . Perhaps you can experiment and find an easier solution . Sorry not much help , LOL . Perhaps a couple leprecauns ? Roger |

you know what Tony, I had a old Craftsmen saw. and I was wondering the same thing, the only thing I found was to hold the screw clamp down from the top. after all it is a pin clamp. but all is needed is a hole or dent in the top to hold the clamp tight. that is what holds the clamp tight on my Hegner. that would work so good if it was passable. just a thought. your friend Evie hear is what mine looks like on my Hegner. |

I have an older Craftsman 16" saw. I use the allen head screws also. I got a T handle allen wrench so it reaches right in with no problem. My wrench is about 8" long, I can change my blades very quick using it. I dont think there would be enough room under the table to use a thumb screw on my machine.

| Tony ; If you can find your owners manual , or model no . and contract your maker of your saw { They could maybe help } . I know that my old Craftsman16" scroll saw sells replacement blade jaws that has that thumb screw , which makes for the quick release of blades . But as I remember their right around $50 dollars plus shipping , that's a little high considering the price of the saw , and how old you saw is would make you think if it's worth it or not . For this is was what I had to consider in a saw that was 10 years old , now things may have changed in the last two years since all this has happened to me Good Luck !!! Marshall
