Hi everyone. Im new to this forum and scroll sawing. About me. I was in an accident awhile ago, and now have limited mobility in my left hand, because of this i need a scroll saw where changing blades is easy, especially for interior cuts in a workpiece. Due to lack of avaliability and price my options have been norrowed down to two. 1.) Hegner Multicut 2S 2.) Proxxon DSH/E Now the Proxxon is the cheaper of the two but, as far as the salesmen are convinced the Hegner "is the best scroll in the world" (unquote) The Hegner is a really nice machine, and blade changing is really easy, i've seem video proof. My question to the forum is: Does anyone have any advice, pros or cons about these two scroll saws that would help me in my decision to purchase. Thanks |

Just to confuse you some more, did you look at the Dewalt? it is very easy to change blades and the turn knobs are on the right hand side. I amnot sure how the price works for the other saws but for $450-500 the Dewalt is a great deal. Alan. and yes I use a Dewalt if fact I have 2. the first one got sloppy after several thousand hours. |

I agree with GreatDane. I have the Dewalt and really like it and blade changes are relatively easy. Keep us posted on what you decide and I'm looking forward to seeing some pics of completed projects.

Fabfella I am very happy with my Hegner and really like the blade holding system for ease of use. I have not used either a Proxxon or a DeWalt thus am unable to give comparisons. I guess you should take any saw you buy for a trial run before you buy just to make it sure that it suits your particular needs.. Rhys |

I have used both the Hegner and the Proxxon in my classes and there is no comparison - the Hegner is by far superior in every aspect

I own and use two Hegner scroll saws for about 8 years and find them to be the best saws I have owned. I did own a few of the DeWalt saws, but that was a time when the Company was not building a good saw so I had many problems with them...I have read they are built better these days. Have not used the Proxxon (in fact I have never heard of them). As for blade changing I have no problems. I agree, if you can, try any scroll saw before buying.

Thanks all for the advice. It seems that the Hegner is the one, and i will definatly want to try it out before i buy it. I did have a look at the DeWALT but unfortunatly here in South Africa they dont import them due to incorrect voltage. They only supply the scroll saw it the USA. |

The Hawk G4 gives you the option of clamping the blades from either side. You can use the saw as a lefty or a righty and you can also move the support arm to either side.
