Jcb. I have used, the url blades from FD. they work great. I cut a lot of oak. and stack to 1/2 " to 3/4. I only have the # 5s but they work great. I also use the pG from olson. a #7 or even #9 is good if the project is not so intricate. you do wont a blade with less teeth per inch to carry out the saw dust, faster. and these blades do. hope this helped. your friend Evie

I've cut 3/4 oak frequently, and a #5 or even a #7 should do fine. Flying Dutchman SR and UR do a great job. Have also used FD PSR and wasn't crazy over it.

Like you said,It isn't too intricate, a # 7 for 3/4" could be used. I maybe would use a # 5 for 1/2" and use tape. Painters tape on the wood with pattern on top of that. Have good tension and let the blade do the cutting. Mike PS, Just when I wanted to post this I see Evie was ahead of me with the same advice. A # 9 might be to aggressive. I would use a blade with reverse teeth.

I have used Olsons PGT #5 and the Mach #3 on 3/4 oak. I felt that the Mach blade cut a bit better. Just my opinion. The UR blades from FD are also pretty awsome. Dean |

| JBC : I'm sure that a 5, or 7 blade would do you justice on this project . I've even used a no. 9 before if its not that intricate !! Good luck Marshall

I would use a #5 skip tooth or a #7 reverse tooth on 3/4 oak and a medium to medium high speed on the saw. sawdustus

Mike, Regarding blades. The gift certificate that you so kindly donated to the Long Island Woodworking show was won by a turner so they gave it to me. Now I have to decide what blades I should order. O r I will go with your suggestion and recommendations for the best FD blades for the work that I do.

I just finished a project on 3/4 " cherry and at Mike's recommendation used a ultra reverse blade size #7. It worked so well that I'm now ordering these blades in smaller sizes as well. In trials on some scrap cherry, I got no burning as long as I was patient and let the blade do the work, and this was without the use of any tape!!! I do recommend using tape, but just tried cutting without it and was plesantly suprised.
