Default finger boards

Anyone have a pattern/instructions to make fingerboards or should I just go buy them?

I am not sure what finger boards are. Perhaps if you could describe them to us we can help a little more.

Do you mean feather boards? They are dead easy to make but as far as design goes it depends on which tool you use them on. Also on how you are going to fasten them to your fence or tool table. Most tool places show feather boards for tools and that should give you an idea on what you need.

Scott. did you mean feather board, if so. hear is some impho. Featherboards are used to keep stock pressed against the fence or table of a wood working machine. top or side or both. they also serve as a anti-kick-back device. they only permit the work piece to move in only one direction. the length can be varied to suit the task at hand. tho make a featherboard, cut a 30degree to 45degree miter at one end of a 3/4-inch thick board. mark a parallel line abut 5 inches from the mitered end. then cut 1/8th inch-wide slots to the marked line. creating a row of sturdy but pliable fingers. then cut a notch for a support board that can be clamped to the machine table at a 90 degree angle to the featherboard, providing added stability. you can make these many different lengths, and widths. put them on the sides of your wood, and on top. clamping them to the tabal, or the fence. you can also use screws. the angle, and the feathers are what is emportant. the length, and width is not. hope this helped. your friend Evie
