Default A cheap lathe.

I need to make a dog door for the critters and went to the Habitat for Humanity store to see if I can find a screen door that I can change. Found 1 exactly like I had in mind. $20. with the hinge and all.
But as I was loading it into the truck a new Delta Midi lathe with the bed extension and a tool box of gouges, came in. the pric tags were still on it.
So for $200. I get to eat light for a few weeks and learn how to use a lathe.
It must be Murphys law that I find these great deals when I can't afford them.
My workshop is called the doghouse and I am in it for a while. Have to find something nice to make the other half with this new toll. lol.

Default I guess I shouldn't have used the example..

that I would only have to build 20 trucks to break even on the lathe.
1 truck has 10 wheels @ $1.08 pre wheel...

John, thanks for the link, I was trying to find a finial, 9/16----- and 1-1/4 tall. I have to make 20 of them to go on the Imperial Tower. out of the book Advanced Scoll Saw clocks buy John Nelson. I tryed to take a picture of the finial. but something crashed on my computer. dang it. I can compound cut them.or just scrollsaw the flat ones. but I would like to find the finials. if I used a lathe. it would be easyer. for sure. thanks alot. your always so thoughtful. your friend Evie

Alan, I just got to love ya. " jump on my broom" that would hurt my feelings, if I new you wasn't kidding. I figured out why I couldn't add the picture. when on line, my security wouldn't let me upload the pictures from my camera. so hear are the ones I am looking for. they are pretty normal finials. but the size is smaller than any other I have seen. I can compound cut them. but I need 20 of them. would rather buy them. thanks for the offer Alan. wish I could do just that
your friend Evie
it is the second one. only 1-1/4 tall

Give me a couple of years and I might be able to make them for you. Could you put a dowel in your drill press and file and sand it to the shape you want?
