Welcome Maxster.......looking forward to some pictures of your posts.
Blade selection varies with members here, as do the kind of wood, thickness, and patterns you want to make.
I personally use Flying Dutchman blades.....Penguine Silver 2/0 for many of my projects.
I also use other types from the Flying Dutchman series, also Olson's Blades, and Pegas Blades.
If you wanted to spend some time at Rick Hutcheson's site for other info on scroll sawing, lathe work and just plain great information....go to Rick's Scrollsaw
For free patterns (donation welcomed) and more great information....go to Scrollsaw Workshop
Mainly though come back here often cause there is super great information with super great members here.....sponsored by a super great magazine ScrollSaw Woodworking & Crafts. You can subscribe to the magazine right from this site too!

if you do a search on the board you will find the topic has come up many times and there are many opinions that have been posted before. Some people use more than one brand depending on what they are cutting.

There have been some pretty lively discussions on this board regarding blade preference/brand loyalty. I think that for the most part, people try to steer clear of the controversy these days. The best advice I can offer regarding blades is to try several different brands and types. Blades are so specialized and projects so individual, without knowing all the details about the material, pattern, saw, etc., generalities aren't terribly useful. The other advice I would offer is to avoid retail outlets. The best deals on the best blades come from mail order/intenet suppliers. They are relatively cheap, so buying several kinds to try is affordable and easy.

I go along with Bill. Use the blades that work best for you. Trial and error is the best teacher when it comes to blades. Good luck and enjoy.

I also agree with Bill, try different blades, but I will add this. Each blade has different characteristics so give them some time before you decide you don't like them. As you gain experience you will find that the blade you couldn't follow a line with as a newbie is now your favorite.
I have only had one blade that I have never been able to follow a line with and still can't.
