OK, I need some help. I need a stand for my 788. Do I buy the normal one or do I build one. I need advise from those with one. The normal one at the store seems to high if you are in a normal chair. Any opinions out there for me?

There are so many ways to mount the saw, I would suggest you try different hieghts and also a slope so the back of the saw is higher than the front. I mostly cut Intarsia and segmentation and found I move around to much to sit. that said I like to have all my tools fairly high so I do not bend my neck to much. My Dewalt saw is now on a cabinet that allows me to adjust the hight in seconds and also the slope is changeable. I find that if I am cutting for a long time that changeing thre hight every hour or so cutts down on fateeg (and even improves my spelling). Anyway you should just try different things and see what works for you. If you do a search on this site you should see what others have done. Alan. |

I really like the stand that is made for the saw.It is at a relatively comfortable height if you stand, or if you sit on a small stool. If sitting in a regular height chair i think it would be to high for you. I prefer the factory stand, with the booster leg installed on the back to tilt the table towards the user, and my little stool from walmart for only about 10 bucks. I dont like a stool with a backrest only because some things I cut I need to occasionally lean way back to let the workpiece pass by me as I turn it. Watch ebay for a stand, you may get one there cheap for your dewalt.

Thanks. I bought one on Ebay and when it came I had half a stand. They refunded my money so all was well.

I built a shelf to set my Dewalt scrollsaw on so I could use it while seated in my roll around office type chair. Yes.. life is good!

I just bought one a week ago and it came with the stand. I highly recomend the stand from Dewalt, it is adjustable so you can have it set on a tilt, the only way to go if you ask me.
