Default Hitachi CW40

Hi everyone,

Back on September 1st, I purchased a Hitachi CW40 scroll saw from Lowe's. During the past two weeks, I had a problem with the motor not starting. After working for about an hour turning it off and on, all of a sudden it would not start. After playing with it for a while, I got it to start, so it was not the reset or the motor. I called Hitachi and they thought it was a controller and I would have to take it to a service center. That would be 120 miles round trip and two trips at that. No Thanks. I stopped by Lowe's to see if they would refund even though it was past the 30 days. Sure enough, they will refund in full. I just ordered a Dewalt DW788 with stand and light. Hopefully it will be here in a week.

Another convert to a great saw. Hope you like it as much as I like mine. I paid $900 for my first Dewalt and so was real pleased when I needed another one that the price had dropped so much.

Hi Alan,

The Dewalt is highly recommended on the site. I hope the saw will meet expectations. I paid $470 for the saw, stand and light.

Just an update. This morning, I brought back the saw to Lowe's. I received a full refund even though it was over the 30 days. Very good service.
