I just got the Excalibur that I bought set up and have a few questions on setting the blade in the holder as I have no instructions with it. The blade mounts contain a setscrew and a knob. Should the setscrew be flush with the side of the mount and the knob tightened to pinch the blade against the mount side or should the setscrew be adjusted to keep the blade centered in the mount? Front to back placement. Should the blade be put all the way to the back of the mount or where? Thanks, Terry |

G'day Terry, I'm by no means an expert, but boy I had a heap of problems setting up my Ex21. Finally got it all sorted. The grub screws can be adjusted so that the blade is parallel when cuting. Push the blade up hard against the back of the mount, this ensures that it is straight.

Terry, I have the EX-21 and one thing I can tell you about it is that you don't have to tighten the knobs on the blade holder as much as you think. When I first got mine, I was so used to my old Craftsman that I over tightened it and had to use a pair of pliers to loosen the dang thing. I love my EX-21, it really cuts nice.

Terry, The setscrews should be in just a little less than center, the biggest thing is that the upper and lower are equally in. I'm with John in that I always just push the blade all the way back. Is your's the black or purple version? I have the purple, I can probably scan the instructions for that one as I don't think there was any real differences between the black and the purple versions other than the color.

Thanks for all the info. I sort of suspected that the idea was to keep the blade centered in the blade mount. My saw is the black one. Label says made in Canada. Thanks, Terry |
