| Mop Sander Hi ,
Wondering where I might purchase the mop sander. Previously I've purchased it from RJR Studios but when you go to check out there, it comes up that it isn't secure. I've sent them a couple e-mails but haven't heard back. Anyone know where else they're available.
Thanks,
Janette |

| Janette, you can get it here also; :: Stockroom Supply - The Sanding Mop
I had Woodcraft order mine. They are selling the Sandflee and have it available as an attachment for it. It is here: SAND-FLEE® Portable Drum Sander - Woodcraft.com scroll to the bottom half of the page.

| Hi Janette,
If you have never tried one of these you should. They last longer and do a faster better job than the standard sanding mop.
I have the 180 and 240 grit. They are a bit more money but worth every penny.
Called the Mac Mop it is a Klingspore product.
The online distributor is Klingspor's Woodworking Shop, klingspor's,Klingspor's,woodworking, supplies, tools, proxxon, disc, sanding sleeves, sandpaper, belts do a search on the part numbers below 180 grit MM07203 and MM07204 for the 240 grit.
I got the 7 inch ones. The first picture is actually spinning at 1750 but my camera stoped it.

Mop sanders are impossible to get in the UK, so I make my own and they work just fine. If you are interested, just let me know and I will dig out some instructions.

| Rolf, do those sand out flat? I mostly work with cedar and one flap sander I tried left ridges along the growth rings, sort of like a ripple effect. I mostly use belt and drom sanders but that does not always work out.

| I get the rippled effect with the pine if I push it too hard. You have to have a very light touch with the soft woods. Haven't tried one of those Rolf but it does look interesting. May have to add that to the list to try out. |

| Alan,
I think any contour sander, flap wheel or other wise will attack the soft areas more so than the hard. So as Janette says you need a gentle touch on the soft woods. I do all of my roughing on a pneumatic drum and a belt sander then do the final sanding with the flap sanders.
I will do a comparison on some cedar pieces to see if there is a big difference between the two styles of wheels now that you have piqued my curiosity.

| A very light touch and a slow speed on the drill press work for me. I get my mops from Klingspor. Jigsue, maybe Klingspor will ship to you if you give them a big enough order. Janette and everyone else, be sure to order the arbors that are needed to put the sandpaper on so the mops work. I use mostly 120 and 180 grit mops and get good results.
