Default Squaring the Blade

So, how do you square the blade to the table? I just finished 4 intarsia projects using 3/4 inch woods from ebony to cedar to redheart to holly. For the first 3 projects the saw cut very normally and I hardly broke a blade but on the 4th project I found that the redheart cut very strangely. Halfway down the cut, the blade must have been forced off line giving me a slight "s" shape down the cut. I thought that I had enough tension in the blade but maybe not. Also, the holly burned pretty bad. I think I probably need to tune up my saw. So, three issues: 1)burning on hardwoods 2)I have to feed the wood into the blade at an angle to get a straight cut and 3)the "s" shaped cut profile.

What and how to make adjustments would be great info.

thanks,
IM

Im,

How long are you using your blades? They don't last forever. Regarding the squaring of the saw table do a search on this forum. I would do it but I have to scurry to a meeting.

See Scrollsaw Issue #32 Fall 2008, p. 18 where three squaring methods are discussed. If you don't have this issue let me know and I will repeat.

I have a Dewalt 788 and find I am always checking my blade tension . Either the blade is slipping ,due to oil on the blade from manufacture , the point of which holds the blades are worn and should be roughed up . Too long a use of the blade and tough wood .And I believe the blade when it gets real hot will stretch . That's some of the things I run into as well as a bad batch of blades . Cheers . Roger
