Default Trim router

I am going to need a trim router here very shortly so I thought I would ask -
If you own a trim router, what kind is it and what do you like and or dislike about?

Thanks

G'day Thomas,
I have a Makita Trimmer, and have it for about 30 years. It still goes runs like a watch and has never let me down.
Newer ones may have more features, but there is nothing that I can think off that would improve this machine.

I got a cheap one from harbor freight and it has done the job for me with no complaints. Not that I am an expert at routers trim or otherwise.

I looked at one last year, but went for the Foredom machine instead. It should work as a trimmer, at leaste that was part of the excuse for buying it. The trimmer seemed like a fair bit of money just to use small bits.

I have a Ryobi that works just fine. I don't know if anyone makes one, but if you can get a model that has a soft start do so. I don't know about the other brands, but mine kicks like a mule when it starts up so I don't keep it in contact with what I am trimming until it is running.

I have two routers a Sears trim router and a 18 year old Black & Decker (back when B&D made there own stuff). The Sears is a little wimpy but great for light work. The Decker is a 1 1/2hp beast that will knock you down if you don't brace yourself when starting it. I think the old Decker would trim Iron & Cement if a bit was made for that.

Had a Porter Cable laminate trimmer for years with no problems. I have the one with all the attachment goodies. I probably have over a thousand hours on it.

I also have a Harbor Freight cheap one and it works just fine for me. Light weight and easy to handle. Doesn't kick too bad at start up either.

Interesting - I am leaning towards the Bosch, Porter Cable or the Makita. I will go shopping and I suppose partially it will depend on availability. Thanks for your input!
