The smallest collet on my dremel will not hold any of the micro bits that are needed for so many things. I can get them in the big drill press but then I run into throat problems, can't get deep enough. I just went through the dremel stuff at Lowes and they don't have anything smaller than what I already have. Any suggestions?

Scott, I had the same problem with my dremel. I found a six pack of collets at Lowes or HD, don't remember which. One of them is so tight that I need to pull it open to get my smallest drill bit into. I couldn't find it sold separately which I why I now have five extra collets sitting in the toolbox. The number on the packet is 4485 - Collet Nut Kit. Hope this helps, Bobbi |

I have the same packet as Bobbi, though they are not tight at all, and it works fine for all the different size bits. Pretty sure I picked it up at HD.

I have some really tiny collets. that hold very tiny bits. I will have to go look it up, where I got them. But.,when I got mine, I thought I would be abale to make the smallest hole to cut veins. in fretwork. but what I found out. none of the blades would fit into the hole. so I would like to ask, is what do you guys use them for. I even tryed to drill 2 holes close together. and try to get rid of the hole to do very thin viening. didn't work for me. so what els do you use them for???? learning all the time. your friend Evie

I recently purchased a battery operated Dremel and it came with two collets one for smaller bits and one with the standard dremel bits. Doc |

You can also get a chuck for the Dremel to use any size small bit. That's what I use. Earl |

I put the finger chuck on my dremel years ago, and haven't taken it off since. I use a #60 drill bit and it works out fine. Evie, I use mostly #5 blades with a #60 drill bit. Hope this helps. When I was trying to figure out what drill bit to get, I brought my blade to the hobby shop and compared different bits till I found the one that works. I now buy drill bits 5 or 6 at a time.
