Default Help - DeWalt

My wonderful DeWalt stopped and I would like to know what to look for and where.
I was cutting and it just stopped. It is as if the power was cut off.
What do I look for and where do I open it up to check.
Diane

Hi Dragon
Might want to first check the circit that the saw is on. It might have tripped that.

On the right hand side of the saw is a small black plastic square inside is a 3 amp fuse.

Steve
The circuit that the saw is on is working. Already checked that one before posting.
Alan
Didn't know about that fuse. Will go and check that right now.
Thanks
Diane

From my own personal experience and what others have posted in here, it may be the switch. Try blowing the dust out of it--some have had successs with that. I did not! My switch went kaput with few hours of cutting and took it to a warrenty repair place for a replacement switch. Once I got her home I covered the switch in the ON position with tape and invested in a foot control switch.

Many cuts and many hours later no problem YET. (YET is just an acroynm for You are Eligble Too.) Good Luck!

The on/off switch has always been covered up with peel and stick plastic. I use a foot switch. Checked that also and it is not the foot switch. I see the small black cover but I am not sure how to open it up. Will have to take another look at this tomorrow.
I hope that it is the fuse because I can't afford to get it fixed right now.

I think that cover just pops off. It has a plastic hinge, so use a screwdriver and gently lever the other side.

Another thought( duck) could it be the brushes in the motor itself. they are easy to check. A dime will work to turn out the covers.

Both hubby and I have tried to open that little black door and it won't. Pushing on it doesn't do anything. Tried to force it open and that doesn't work either.
Right now I am very frustrated and I have lots of stuff to cut. I am going into my cocoon and may return some day....
Some people brag about their saw lasting many years. Mine is one year old!!!!
