Default RBI Hawk 226

Ok here is my question. For you that have the Hawk saws. Do you like the hold down foot? Mine is black and has a hole for the blade to go thru. It seems in the way mostof the time.
Do you know if there is another foot that can be bought.
I looked at Hawk's sight and seems that is all they provide.
I have been placing it out to the side and that works most of the time except when you are close to the edge and it will be off the project part of the time
I know many of you say that you dont use your foot. but I sometimes dont hold it down good when making a 360 cut.

any suggestions?

Take it OFF!!
The hold down foot on any saw is useless. Once you learn to properly feed the wood and make turns the wood will not hop on you.

If you are doing fretwork the foot will interfere and possibly damage your work.

I agree with Rolf.
They just get in the way.

I agree with the above. The first thing to do is to take it off of the saw and then just practice holding the work down with one hand while guiding the work with the other hand. There are some good vidios on the web showing how this is done.

That nasty black foot hold down on my Hawk is long gone! You need to get rid of it, listen to those above, they are the experts.

I also agree with all the above. the only time I use my hold down bar, in my case it is seperat on my saw, is when the pattern i am cutting is big. and the wood is warped some. it is hard to hold it down buy the blade with a long arm reach. and then it helps. but most the time, I don't use it at all. it wont take you long to hold the wood down with one fingure, I put mine behind or beside the blade on the wood. using it like a pivit point. and move the wood with the other hand. you'll get used to it quick, for the wood slamming up and down will remind you fast. it is also easy to use eather had, it is just in the practice. and befor you know it. you wont even notice what your doing, it will just be otto matic. there is no shame in useing one , and no shame or pride in not using one. it is up to you what ever works. your friend Evie

There's a hold down foot on the Hawk? I looked, and, lo and behold, there is a spot for one.
Get rid of it!

I use my hold down bar as a place to put my scotch tape roll.

Thanks all I found it to be useless. I ususall dont even put it down much but some patterns I do I have used it.
but I thought a saw that cost that much should have a better option.
