| The Amazing Cutting Engine While searching the internet, I came across this adaptation of a sewing machine into a marquetry cutting engine. Although it's not a scroll saw as such, I thought it might interest the more mechanically inclined amongst us (are you reading this, Carl ). The Amazing Cutting Engine
Take a look at the gallery on that website too - there's some astounding marquetry to goggle over.

| Aren't those marquetarians fabulous? The way they use the wood grain to add texture is stunning.
I've seen their work close up and their isn't a flea's hair-breadth between any of the veneers. They're all beautifully finished too.

| When I was scrolling yesterday I thought about sewing machines .The saws up and down action reminded me of a sewing machine's action .I was cutting circles and the white pattern looked like cloth .Voila . Here it is . Thanks .Roger |

| Isn't it kind of like reinventing the wheel. Most people I know use a scrollsaw and fine jewelers blades. A scrollsaw is designed for something like this and you don't have to use a scalpel to finish cutting it loose by hand. |

| In theory, this is the case. Yet how many people here can produce the quality of marquetry that Gerald Owen achieves with his engine? I hear a lot about how good marquetry is that's been cut by a scroll saw, but examples are rather elusive. Until I find something comparable to the work of the Staffordshire Marquetry Group, I shall continue to cut with a knife.
Come on, guys - show me something impressive !
