OK folks, I sprung for the Ridgid Oscillating Spindle Sander (try saying that fast, three times, after a six pack of Bud) over the weekend. Somewhat larger footprint than my belt/disk sander, but it fits on the end of my workbench. Looking for any advice you can give; suppliers for the sanding sleeves, where I can get a miter gauge, hints and secrets for how to use this machine, etc. Haven't used it much yet, but I think I'm going to like it. Chase

This is where I get almost all my sanding supplies and have been well pleased with their durability. They may cost more each but they last 3-4 times longer than materials I purchase elsewhere. Hi Chase - I have had my Rigid sander for about 4 years now. I use it frequently and really like the job it does. I found that the miter gage for my Sears Craftsmen 12 bandsaw fits the rigid sander. I found a minor problem using the 1/2 inch sanding drum to sand 1/2 inch holes. The knob that holds the sanding drum in place is too large to slide a board with a 1/2 inch hole over it. I solved this problem by having a machinist make a smaller knob. I can now fit the board with the 1/2 inch hole over the sanding drum. I also use a foot control. I have a small shop vac hooked to the sawdust port (also hooked up to the foot control) this works very well. Hope your sander serves you as well as mine has me. Sorry to ramble, but I hope this helps. Hal - Woodenfish |

Then I saw the above in your post and I had a BFO (blinding flash of the obvious) and went to Sears. They had a miter gauge that fits into the slot on the sander. It has more precision than I'll ever use. Was going to make a jig, but this will work much better. Again Hal, thanks. Your scrollin' buddy, Chase
