I am wondering about setting up my new saw to make it easier to use. I have been rearended twice at high speed and also hit head on. I hate drunk drivers . I have a problem looking down, and am thinking about mounting the saw a bit higher than normal and having the rear a fair bit higher than the front. I think if the saw table was at a 45 degree angle it would be less strain on my neck. So the big question is has anyone done this sort of thing before, and if so any suggestions would be welcome.

my saws are set so the back is higher than the front, but not at a 45 degree angle. The dewalt stand has a leg to raise the back and yes, it does help on neck strain. Start with adding a piece of 2X4 or similar under the back of the saw and cut a bit, then add more and try ,and add more, or remove some, and you will find your comfort zone Alan. Dale

I never thought about raising the rear of the saw, good idea I am going to try that. Ditto on the Drunk drivers, I think the punishment should be more severe. Usually the innocent victim suffers long term. Dean |

greatdane2 sorry to hear about your misadventures with drunk drivers.... they are definatly a menace. As to making your saw more comfertable to use if you put the saw about shoulder high so that the work is almost at eyelevel but not quite and then possibly elevate the back of the saw a bit. 45 Deg. is a bit steep prhaps 25 deg would be better. What ever is the most comfertable to you is what counts. DW |

There is a great plan available here Furniture Michael Martin is Nailbender and his plans sound like they would really fit the bill. He welcomes modifications to his plans. You can reach him here cptnmike@yahoo.com

Thanks to CanadianScroller, that looks like a good starting point. As to Knothead, would'nt the saw get in the way of the mirror. Thanks for the laugh.
